Creating a Product

Let’s kickstart your online store! Use the Simple Editor to effortlessly sell physical products (like books) and digital downloads (such as ebooks or images). This guide will walk you through creating your first product.

Step 1 | Enter The Basic Product Info

Add the basic product details, such as the product name and description.

To enter the basic product information:

  • Enter the product name
  • Select the product Category. You can select multiple categories.
  • You can also input the Product Stock Keeping unit (SKU). Generally, it is auto-generated.
  • Enter a description of the product in the Description field.

Additional Product Options:

  • Make Product Available:
    • Enable on Date Range: Activate this toggle switch to set a specific time frame for your product availability.
    • Start Date: Use the date picker to select the starting date when you want the product to be available.
    • End Date: Use the date picker to select the ending date when you want the product to no longer be available.
  • Make Product Visible: Choose the desired visibility status from the dropdown menu.
    • Options include “Everyone can see”, “Customers” and “Selected Customers”.
    • If you select “Selected Customers” you can select your desired customer by clicking “Manage Customer”.
  • Enable Passcode Protection: Activate this toggle switch to enable passcode protection for the product. This adds an extra layer of security, ensuring only users with the correct passcode can access the product.
  • Set Product Status: Choose “Active” from the dropdown menu to set the product status. This indicates that the product is live and available for customers.

Step 2 | Price and Stock

Simple Editor offers two easy ways to handle your inventory:

  • Tracking Inventory:
    • Automatically keeps count of how many of a specific product you have.
    • Inventory is adjusted automatically with each sale.
  • In Stock / Out of Stock:
    • You decide if a product is “In Stock” or “Out of Stock.”
    • Manually set the status to “Out of Stock” when a product is unavailable.
  • Base Price:
    • This is the initial price of a product. Serves as the starting point for determining the final selling price.
  • Cost Price:
    • The actual cost incurred to produce or purchase a product. Crucial for calculating profit margins and making informed pricing decisions.
  • Minimum Order Quantity:
    • The smallest quantity customers must purchase at once. Sets a threshold for a minimum purchase, influencing sales strategy.
  • Maximum Order Quantity:
    • The largest quantity customers can purchase in a single order. Aids in inventory management prevent overordering and ensure efficient order fulfilment.
  • Shipping Profile:
    • Defines specific shipping rules and costs for products.
    • Choose or create a shipping profile for accurate shipping calculations.
  • Variation Price Display Type:
    • Determines how variation prices are displayed.
    • Select the preferred display type for variation prices.
  • Label for Variation Price:
    • Custom label for displaying variation prices.
    • Define a label to describe variation prices for clarity.

Pricing & Stock Options:

  • Enable Multiple Order:
    • Allows customers to order multiple quantities.
    • Toggle to enable multiple order quantity selection.
  • Promote this product: On Sale
    • Highlights the product as being on sale.
    • Activate to visually promote the product as discounted.
  • Sale Price:
    • What it is: The discounted price during a sale.
    • How to set: Enter the discounted sale price for the product.
  • Enable Expect To Pay:
    • Provides an expected price range for negotiation.
    • Toggle to allow customers to indicate their expected price.
  • Enable Call for Price:
    • Hides the price, prompting customers to inquire.
    • Toggle to enable a “Call for Price” option.
  • Make Product Price Restricted:
    • Restricts access to the product price.
    • Toggle to make the product price accessible only to authorised users.
  • Restrict Product Purchase:
    • Limits on who can purchase the product.
    • Toggle to restrict product purchase to specific criteria.
  • Hide Product Price from Store:
    • Conceals the product price on the storefront.
    • Toggle to hide the product price from general visibility.

Step 3 | Image and Video

Add images, videos, or Specification files of your products so customers can see exactly what they’re purchasing.

  • Add files by dragging and dropping your images, videos, or specification files directly into the designated area.
  • Alternatively, click on the upload button to choose files from your computer or device. Select the desired files and proceed to upload.

File Guidelines

  • Maximum File Size:
    • Images and Videos: 20MB per file.
    • Specification Files: 10MB per file.
  • Supported File Formats:
    • Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF
    • Videos: MP4, AVI, MOV
    • Specification Files: PDF
  • Aspect Ratio Recommendations:
    • For images and videos, a standard aspect ratio (e.g., 16:9) is recommended for optimal display.

Step 4 | Configure Advanced Options

Enhance your product’s details by configuring advanced options to provide more information and optimise its visibility.

  • Global Trade Item Number (GTIN): Enter the GTIN associated with your product in the provided input field.
  • Product Condition:
    • Select the product’s condition from the dropdown menu:
      • New
      • Used
      • Refurbished
  • Webtool: Configure SEO tracking to improve your product’s visibility on search engines.
    • Disable Tracking: Toggle this option based on your preference. Disable if you do not want SEO tracking.
  • Meta Tag Configuration: Categorise your product effectively for search engines using meta tags.
    • Name: Input the name of the meta tag to identify the category.
    • Value: Specify the value associated with the meta tag.
    • For each entry, ensure to save your configurations.
    • If you need to remove a meta tag, you can do so by selecting the specific entry and choosing the removal option.

Step 5 | Add Product Properties

Define the distinctive properties of your product to enhance its visibility and provide essential details.

Product Type: Select the applicable product type(s) from the checkboxes:

  • Featured Product: Select this option to highlight a specific product as a “Featured Product.” These are typically items that you want to showcase prominently on your website, often on the homepage or in a dedicated featured products section.
  • New Product: Use the “New Product” designation for items that have recently been added to your inventory. This helps customers identify and explore your latest offerings, encouraging them to discover what’s new in your store.
  • Sold Out: When a product is no longer available for purchase because it’s sold out, you can mark it as “Sold Out.” This informs customers that the item is currently unavailable but might return in the future or prompts them to explore alternative options.

Model: Input the model of your product into the provided field.

Dimensions:

  • Width (cm): Input the width of your product in centimetres.
  • Height (cm): Input the height of your product in centimetres.
  • Length (cm): Input the length of your product in centimetres.

Weight: Input the weight of your product in kilograms.

Step 6 | Add Your Product Description

Tell your customers all about your product! Provide a comprehensive description of your product to engage and inform your customers. Utilise various formatting options to make your product stand out.

  • Text: Write a clear and simple description that explains what makes your product awesome.
  • Insert Links: If there’s more info or reviews, you can add links to direct customers there.
  • Tables: Make things organised with tables. Great for showing sizes, specs, or any structured details.
  • Images: Show off your product with pictures! Add different angles or close-ups to give a complete view.
  • Videos: Put in videos for demos, tutorials, or happy customer reviews.
  • Other Cool Stuff: Get creative! Use bold or italicised text, and add bullet points to make things easy to read.

Enhance your product listing by adding related products that complement or go well together with the current item.

  • Click on the “Add Related Products” option.
  • A pop-up will appear, allowing you to select related products.
  • Use filters based on product attributes for a targeted selection.
  • If you have a specific product in mind, use the search function to find it quickly.

Step 8 | Save Your Changes

Once you’re satisfied with your product setup, click the “Save” button.

Congratulations! Your product is now all set to be showcased in your online store. If you ever need to make updates or additions, you can come back to this section and make the necessary adjustments.
