Complete Guide to Text Personalisation

Text Personalisation enables customisation of language and labels displayed on the storefront to align with brand identity and target audience preferences. This feature provides control over customer-facing text, whether translating content into multiple languages or modifying terminology such as converting "Add to cart" to "Add to bag".

Scope of Customisation

Text Personalisation allows modification of over 200 text labels across the website, including:

  • Shopping cart buttons and messages
  • Address form labels
  • Navigation elements
  • Product sorting options
  • Business information fields
  • General interface text

Important: Customisations apply exclusively to the customer-facing storefront. The WebCommander administrative interface remains unaffected.

Accessing Text Personalisation

  1. Log into the WebCommander instance.
  2. Navigate to Settings in the left sidebar.
  3. Select Text Personalisation from the settings menu.
  4. The System Labels table will display all customisable text fields.

System Labels Table Structure

The System Labels table contains three primary columns:

  • Type: Categorical classification of the label (e.g., Shopping, Address, Business Information).
  • Original Text: Default system text identifier (e.g., "add.to.cart").
  • Customised Text: Custom version displayed to customers (e.g., "Add to cart").

Customisation Procedures

Single Label Modification

  1. Locate the required label using the search bar by entering relevant keywords.
  2. Select the edit icon (pencil symbol) on the right side of the row.
  3. Enter the desired custom text in the "Customised Text" field.
  4. Select Save to apply changes. Modifications take effect immediately on the storefront.

Label Filtering

The following filtering options facilitate efficient label location:

  • Type Filter: Select specific categories (e.g., Shopping, Address, Sorting).
  • Language Filter: Select the language version for editing.
  • Search Bar: Enter keywords for rapid label identification.

Multi-Language Configuration

For storefronts serving multiple regions, customisation can be performed per language:

  1. Select the target language from the language dropdown menu.
  2. Customise labels for the selected language.
  3. Repeat the process for each supported language.

Each language maintains independent customisations. Changes to one language do not affect others.

Implementation Examples

Brand Voice Alignment

Industry-specific terminology customisation:

  • "Add to cart" → "Add to bag"
  • "Actions" → "Options"

Regional Spelling Standardisation

Localisation for specific markets:

  • "Personalization" → "Personalisation" (British/Australian English)
  • Consistent application of regional spelling conventions

Multilingual Implementation

Serving diverse customer bases:

  • Configure English labels for English-speaking customers.
  • Configure localised labels for customers in other languages.
  • Each visitor views labels in their selected language.

Best Practices

  • Maintain Consistency: Ensure terminology changes are applied uniformly across all relevant labels.
  • Conduct Testing: Review the storefront after modifications to verify appropriate display and natural readability.
  • Consider Target Audience: Employ language and terminology appropriate for the customer demographic.
  • Utilise Search Functionality: Leverage the search bar to efficiently locate specific labels among the 200+ available options.
  • Document Modifications: Maintain records of customisations, particularly for multi-user environments.
